DO YOU HAVE A PHONE?
NO. There is no phone in the shop. I have an automated system that you can call to book or change appointments. It can also answer any question you might have. If you choose to use the automated system, don't ask for a representative or ask to speak with a person. There isn't one. If you use this system and can't get the information you need, please send me an email. Please note the cancellation and no-show policies below. I do enforce them.
Not really a question, but LET'S TALK ABOUT PHONES IN THE SHOP
When you first walk into the shop, you'll notice a sticker on the front door that indicates NO CELL PHONES. The same sticker is on the mirror at every barber's station. What does this mean? It's simple, really. This barbershop is not a place to use your cell phone to make or take phone calls. If you need to make or take a phone call, step outside to do that. Please don't walk into the shop while on a phone call. Walk in ready for your service instead. When you're in the barber's chair getting your service, STAY OFF YOUR PHONE. Don't make or take calls, or have your phone out scrolling or checking messages or email. A great haircut is a team effort, and if you're on your phone, you're not doing your part. 99% of the time, your head is down or in the wrong position if you're on your phone during the haircut. And, it's bad manners in the barber chair. Don't do it. Don't wear earbuds during your haircut either. Phones and earbuds create a situation that your barber has to work around, and that's not what the barber is here for. That's why this information is here - so you know. Just stay off your phone in the chair and don't make or take calls in the shop. If you're doing it wrong, expect to be corrected.
WHAT IF I'M RUNNING LATE FOR MY APPOINTMENT?
That's a problem. Avoid that. Late clients affect the whole day. Here are some scenarios: If you have your barber's cell phone number, text them and work something out. On the home page, there are also buttons you can use to text your barber. They're in the contact section, near the bottom. Please DO NOT CALL your barber. They cannot answer their phones. Instead, TEXT THEM. That's the only way to get hold of a barber at the last minute. Ahead of time, if you think you're going to be late, change or reschedule your appointment through the link in your text confirmation or reminder, or use the automated system. Do this before the cancellation deadline of 2 hours before your scheduled appointment. If you are more than 10 minutes late for your appointment and you haven't worked that out with your barber, you will be marked as a no-show, and the barber will decide whether or not to charge you full price for the missed service. Don't arrive more than 10 minutes late and expect to get your service done. That may not happen if there isn't time before the barber's next appointment. It's best to take your appointment seriously and be responsible. Late clients affect the whole day. Take your appointment as seriously as I do. Plan your time accordingly and arrive in a timely manner. Please also review the no-show and cancellation policies below.
DO YOU TAKE WALK-INS?
Many times, there's a barber available to take walk-ins, and they will be happy to help you. However, the shop typically operates by appointment. So basically, walk-ins can be helped most of the time. The barbers try their best. However, there are those times when the barbers are fully booked and might not be able to accommodate you right away, or accommodate you at all. If there are no spots available, unfortunately, you won't be able to get a service. You can save yourself the trouble and just book an appointment before you head down. It's best to schedule ahead at a busy barbershop. This is particularly true on busy days like Saturday.
DO YOU CUT KIDS' HAIR?
The barbershop offers a Kid's Cut. That service is for ages 16 and under. If you are scheduling for someone 16 and under, please select the Kid's Cut. You will notice it's the same price. When you schedule a Kid's Cut, please use the child's name to book the appointment and not your own name. Please note that not all barbers offer Kids' Cuts. Sam, Allen and Mr. Lee do great with kids and come highly recommended. It's best to bring a picture of what you want and have it ready to show your barber. During your child's haircut, have a seat in the waiting area. Do not hover around the barber chair where the barber is doing the haircut. You'll be asked to go sit down. If you don't, the haircut will be over at that point. Also note, there have been kids that barbers have had to turn away because the kids are just not ready to sit calmly and get a haircut, so if the barber thinks it's going to be a problem (regardless of the age), please respect their judgment. Additionally, if you and your kid are arguing about what kind of haircut they are going to get, the barber will probably decline the service. Please respect that as well.
HOW DO I SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT FOR SOMEONE ELSE? OR FOR MY KIDS?
When you make an appointment for someone other than yourself, including your children, please use the actual name of the person getting the service, and not your own name. And let them know which barber you booked the service with. This will make sure there is no unnecessary confusion when they get to the barbershop. And trust me, when you do it wrong, there is always confusion.
HOW CAN I MAKE SURE I GET THE BEST HAIRCUT POSSIBLE?
Don't wear a hat to the barbershop. Come with clean hair styled how you wear it. Wear a t-shirt for your appointment, especially for a hot shave with a straight razor. It's always a good idea to have a picture of the haircut or beard trim you want, and have it ready to show your barber. Just remember, the barbers can't photoshop your haircut, and they don't use enhancements, so keep that in mind.
WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW BEFORE I GET THERE?
You need to know the name of the barber you are coming to see. Which barber is the appointment scheduled with? When you get there, you'll probably be asked right away who you're coming to see. You need to know that. Next, leave your sunglasses in the car. Leave your hats and coats in the car, too, if you can. If you do bring them in, do not set them on the barber's workstation. The barber's workstation is not a place for you to set your things. The barbershop has developed quite a collection of hats, coats, and sunglasses over the years, and doesn't need any more.
WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?
You will need to cancel your appointment at least 2 HOURS before your scheduled appointment time. If cancellation happens after that time, you will be charged the full service fee automatically. There are no exceptions. You can cancel or reschedule your appointment through the link in your email or text confirmation and reminders, or by calling and using the automated system. Make sure that if you do that, you do it before the 2-hour window. The link for the automated system is on the website menu and the home page. Don't get upset when I enforce the cancellation or no-show policies. Let's flip the script: What if you showed up at your job and were told you'd be making $50 less that day?
WHAT IF I NO-SHOW?
Don't. But if you do, you will probably be charged full price for the service that you missed (it's at the barber's discretion), and you'll be required to pre-pay for future services. If you need to change or cancel your appointment, please do so through the link in your email or text confirmation, or by calling and using the automated system. The link is in the website menu and on the home page. Make these changes before the cancellation policy's 2-hour window. We have a very generous cancellation and change policy. No shows are a no-go. If it becomes a problem, you won't be able to book appointments in the future.
DO YOU TAKE CREDIT CARDS?
The barbers accept all major credit cards, contactless forms of payment and cash. Of course, cash is always a great idea. Also, in order to book an appointment, you must have a credit card on file (see below).
WHY DO I NEED TO PUT MY CARD ON FILE TO BOOK AN APPOINTMENT?
That's a good question, because that's a newer policy - a change. DO NOT GET CONFUSED! Putting the card on file IS NOT prepayment, and DOES NOT prepay for your appointment. You DO NOT need to prepay unless you've been a no-show in the past. Also, the small booking fee is added ONLY to pre-paid appointments. Some barbers prefer cash at the time of service. HERE'S THE WHY: The card on file enables me to enforce the cancellation and no-show policies found above in these FAQs. Please review them. I take these policies very seriously and hope I never have to use them. If you don't want to put your card on file, come as a walk-in and hope for the best.
ARE YOU GUYS BUSY RIGHT NOW?
The best way to tell how busy the barbershop, or a barber, is at any moment is to schedule your visit online by booking the next available appointment. That way, you can see how busy it is right now. Who knows how busy it will be when you get here?
CAN I MAKE AN APPOINTMENT?
Yes. Please do. Book online on this website, using the button on Google, or use the automated system at any time. Book with the barber of your choice, at a time that's convenient for you. These are the only ways to check availability and book an appointment. You will need to put a credit card on file to book (see the FAQ above). Please don't reach out via Yelp, messenger or call the barber's cell phones (text is OK) because they are busy cutting hair and won't have time to see the notifications or answer the cell phone, and probably cannot respond on time. You will not be able to schedule an appointment using Yelp. As a reminder, there is no phone in the shop.
DO YOU HAVE WIFI?
Yes. WiFi is: barbershopguest and the password is: barbershop.
DO YOU OFFER BOOT & SHOE SHINING?
No. I no longer offer this service.
CAN I BRING MY CHILD UNDER 10 WITH ME IF THEY'RE NOT GETTING A HAIRCUT?
No. Please don't. You'll be asked to reschedule. I don't want the barbers to babysit your kids when you're getting a haircut. Nobody in the shop wants to listen to what your child is watching on the tablet or your phone while you're busy getting your haircut. There are too many ways for things to go wrong in the barbershop when there's unsupervised children running around. You probably think it will be fine, but trust me, it won't. Too many problems. Too many tools. Too many antiques. Please don't do it. It's not considerate to other guests, the barbers or the barbershop.
